If we use that as an 'accurate' benchmark, we see that because NVIDIA said that the 1080 is supposed to be faster than 980 in SLI, notice how they say SLI, which isn't a valid fact, because it depends entirely on what game, and, because they don't mention 980 Ti in SLI, then we should know that it's slower than 980 Ti in SLI, otherwise why wouldn't they just say so in the first place?
